Swiss manufacturing tradition at Laufen dates back to 1892, establishing benchmark standards across European bathroom design. While ceramic production remains central to the brand, material research led to the creation of Marbond, bringing identical structural rigor to dedicated showering spaces.
This Laufen Pro S Rectangular Marbond Shower Tray collection translates that engineering expertise into a complete spectrum of rectangular sizes, finished in clean white to suit diverse bathroom layouts.
Focused Design by Peter Wirz
Created alongside Swiss designer Peter Wirz and his studio Vetica, the Pro S series centers on human usability rather than fleeting decorative trends. Wirz approached the collection with an emphasis on functional ergonomics and long term durability.
"People are central to design thinking. Their needs, emotions and relationship with water shape our approach." - Peter Wirz
Across every rectangular dimension in the range, subtle perimeter slopes guide water toward the outlet without compromising floor space. The extended rectangular proportions offer expansive room to move, creating an open, unhindered showering footprint suitable for modern enclosures or walk in spaces.
Marbond Composite Performance
Laufen engineered Marbond to overcome performance trade offs associated with traditional acrylic or pressed steel trays. Each unit is constructed from a dense mineral composite core, sealed beneath a protective 3mm gel coat finish. This solid composition gives the entire surface physical rigidity, preventing flex under heavy daily use.
The material properties transform the tactile feel underfoot. The mineral core retains ambient room warmth, avoiding cold contact when stepping under running water. Its dense mass absorbs acoustic vibration caused by water impact, keeping operational sound low throughout surrounding rooms. The nonporous gel coat resists household cleaning products and retains original white colour stability under UV light exposure.
Every rectangular tray in the series includes a dedicated 50mm high flow siphon waste engineered for fast water evacuation. A flush square cover in matching white conceals the waste channel underneath, maintaining an uninterrupted standing surface. With a slim 30mm rim profile, these trays accommodate flexible floor fitting, supporting step free integration into tiled floors or direct mounting onto existing subfloors.
Key Features:
- Swiss Design Origin: Developed in partnership with Peter Wirz of Vetica studio, balancing geometric precision with functional proportions for modern layouts.
- Marbond Composite Structure: Manufactured with a solid mineral cast core sealed in a 3mm gel coat finish for structural rigidity without flex under foot.
- Class C Certified Antislip Surface: Meets DIN 51097 safety standards for maximum slip resistance under wet conditions without rough textured grit.
- Integrated High Flow Siphon Waste: Supplied complete with a dedicated 50mm siphon waste hidden under a flush removable cover in matching white Marbond.
- Natural Thermal Comfort: The composite material absorbs ambient room warmth, eliminating initial temperature shock under bare feet.
- Acoustic Vibration Absorption: Heavy mineral composition dampens water impact noise to support a quieter bathroom environment.
- Expansive Size Choice: Available across a broad spectrum of rectangular dimensions to suit alcoves, walk in enclosures, or spacious master bathrooms.
- Low Profile 30mm Height: A slim rim depth supports flush step free level access or direct surface mounting across varied floor constructions.
- Hygienic Chemical Resistance: Smooth nonporous finish prevents bacterial build up, resists cleaning agents, and holds UV colour tone over time.
- Restorable Composite Finish: Surface marks or accidental minor scratches can be restored using genuine Laufen composite repair kits.
