Quadrant Shower Enclosures: Make the Most of Your Bathroom Space

A quadrant shower enclosure is a practical choice for bathrooms where every centimetre counts. With a curved front and two straight sides that sit neatly into a corner, quadrant enclosures make efficient use of floor space while still giving you a comfortable area to shower.

What is a quadrant shower enclosure?

A quadrant enclosure has a distinctive curved front that follows a quarter-circle shape, with the back of the enclosure fitting into the corner of your bathroom. This design means there are no sharp corners projecting into the room, making quadrant enclosures particularly useful in smaller bathrooms and ensuites.

They’re available in a range of sizes, so you can choose an enclosure that gives you enough room to shower comfortably while working with the dimensions of your bathroom.

What size quadrant shower enclosure do I need?

Common sizes include 800 x 800mm, 900 x 900mm and 1000 x 1000mm, although other dimensions are available. The right size depends on the available floor space and how much room you want inside the shower.

Before choosing your enclosure, measure the two walls where it will sit and check the manufacturer's dimensions. It's also important to consider nearby toilets, vanity units and doors, making sure there is enough space to access the shower and use the door comfortably.

Why choose a quadrant enclosure?

The curved design makes a quadrant enclosure a good option when you want to maximise usable floor space. The rounded front takes up less room than a square corner projecting into the bathroom, which can make a noticeable difference in a compact layout.

They're also versatile enough to work across a wide range of bathroom styles. Pair one with your chosen shower system, tray and brassware to create a practical showering area that fits naturally into the rest of the room.

Choosing the right shower tray

Your shower tray needs to be compatible with the size and shape of your quadrant enclosure. Check the manufacturer's specifications before ordering, particularly if you're replacing an existing enclosure or tray.

It's also worth checking the position of the waste and the available access for installation. If you're changing the position of your shower, your installer may need to make adjustments to the existing plumbing.
