Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Plumbed (central heating), Dual Fuel and Electric Only Towel Rails/Radiators?

This is the most common question we receive. Below is a brief breakdown of the differences between these, however we understand the complexities around choosing this product type and are on hand to chat either by phone or live chat!

Plumbed (Central Heating) radiators are connected to the central heating system, using a pair of valves this allows the hot water to enter the radiator on one side, flow through it and exit out the other side. The radiator heats up when the central heating comes on and radiates heat into the room.

Dual Fuel radiators are connected to the central heating system in the same way as plumbed versions, but they have the addition of an electric heating element that can be controlled independently of the central heating. This is useful during the summer months (it’s often referred to as a summer element) when the central heating is off but you want to turn on this on to dry towels.

Electric Only radiators are exactly that, they are not connected to the central heating system in any way but have a wired electrical connection which can be controlled by a simple switch or a more complex timer/thermostat.

Can I use dual fuel radiators all year round?

Yes, you can use it all year round independently of the central heating system. You can install it to a simple switch or a timer/thermostat, and some of the more modern ones can now be controlled via an app from your phone.

Do your radiators and towel rails come with all the valves and fixings ?

They all come with brackets to attach to a wall but they do not include valves or other components. We do this as there are so many options depending on your particular installation. For example, if your pipes come up through the floor then you would need a straight valve but they come out of the wall then you will need angled one. You can choose between manual and thermostatic valves, and there are a myriad of styles and colours. As such we let you choose the details but if you need help then we are here to advise, just jump on live chat or give us a ring!
