What is a Slotted Waste?

A slotted waste is specifically designed for use with basins that feature an integrated overflow. The term "slotted" refers to a small rectangular opening built into the side of the waste body.

When the clicker mechanism is closed to fill the sink, the overflow pipe remains connected to the main drain through this slot. If the water level reaches the overflow hole in your basin, it travels down a hidden channel and enters the waste via this opening, allowing the water to drain safely away even while the main plug is engaged.
